rewriting the rules

Meet RAD

Every Brane Audio speaker runs on our proprietary Repel-Attract Driver (RAD), the most significant advancement in audio driver technology in over a century.

RAD redefines the rules of size and bass, delivering sub-bass in a battery-powered package once thought impossible.

hofmann's iron law

Deep bass has always come at a cost.

Speaker design has long been governed by Hofmann’s Iron Law. You can optimize for only two of three things:

1.Efficiency, and low energy draw.2.Small size that is compact and portable.3.Deep sub-bass range that hits all notes.

Push for deep bass in a small enclosure, and efficiency suffers. Prioritize efficiency and deep bass, and the enclosure gets bigger. For decades, portable speakers have been constrained by these tradeoffs.

Brane Audio set out to break the law.

How Rad Works

RAD INSIDE

Our patented RAD driver uses an array of permanent magnets to cancel the air pressure that pushes back against the driver. The result is deeper bass from a smaller, more efficient speaker.

"a radical new approach to deep bass that could reshape portable and wireless speakers."

RAD2

the evolution

The next generation RAD retains its core air-pressure breakthrough while addressing another fundamental challenge: inertia. A new magnetic design, improved launch system, and lower moving mass enable more deep-bass output with less energy. The result is greater deep-bass efficiency and a more scalable design.

The next generation of RAD minimizes the power required to overcome the inertia of the moving sound panel by dynamically adjusting the driver’s resonant frequency as a function of the music it is reproducing. If a pop song has a repetitive 25 Hz note, RAD2 will adjust its resonant frequency to 25 Hz to minimize power draw.

FAQ

Can a portable speaker produce subwoofer bass?

Yes, a portable speaker can produce true subwoofer bass when its driver and enclosure are engineered to overcome the usual size and power limitations. Brane X uses Repel-Attract Driver technology to reach down to 27.1 Hz from a compact portable enclosure.

How low does the Brane X bass go?

Brane X reaches down to 27.1 Hz, extending deep into the sub-bass range. Its RAD subwoofer produces low frequencies that most compact portable speakers cannot reach.

What drivers are in the Brane X?

  • One Repel-Attract Driver (RAD) for bass, 6.5 x 9 inches.
  • Two 2.5 inch (63 mm) midrange cones.
  • Two 0.79 inch (20 mm) silk dome tweeters.

Is the Brane X's RAD technology patented?

Yes, Brane X and its Repel-Attract Driver technology are protected by multiple issued and pending patents.
